Obama Fatigue

Yuval Levin has a good article in National Review today.

It's about...you guessed it...Obama fatigue.

Specifically, he points to the vulnerabilities one creates when they're surrounded by the messiah talk. Just as "moral majority" Republicans getting caught in a sex sting are more interesting than lefties in the same situation, Obama's mortality becomes more interesting than that of others.

There's also a section that goes back to something we've discussed here...intraparty variation on Obama appreciation.

Sorry that I don't have too much to write on it now, but it is an interesting, quick read.

Surprising how far his candidacy's view has changed in the since last month and super Tuesday.

I guess all those Ron Paul guys had to go somewhere and ruin it for the rest of us.

After seeing your post with his anti-war speech, I decided to dig into his "Audacity of Hope" and picked up the audiobook.

I will say from my first few afternoons commuting with it, that he does seem to have his head grounded in reality. He is much more of a realist than the campaigns of the other two would want you to believe.

Its also kind of interesting that people are so desperate for 'something else' that they create such a powerful cult image. That should tell you something right there.

Oh yes, and if you did not click thru to the article, the Nat'l Review guy makes it clear that noone's claiming the 'messiah' thing is of his own making.

But even if it's not his fault, it is his problem.

Frankly, it has been the rap for a while that it is only a matter of time before he got his come-uppance from the press. That they love to build someone up only because it's so fun to tear them down.

I don't know that we're full-fledged in that mode or anything, but this is not a huge surprise.

Timing is not good for him and one has to wonder if his peeps knew that and that was driving the urgency to get Hillary to give in last week...caues they knew the wave was winding down.

I think he does better as the outsider/underdog anyway. Its a good chance for him to get back to the roots.

His biggest problem is that he has been on the defensive, and getting psuedo-swiftboated.

Personally I would like to see him take it to Hillary, call her out on the BS. But hes kinda stuck with his 'above the fray' posture.

Whatever it takes though, I decided today that I would likely not vote for a president should Hillary get the nomination. Or get in my car and drive to Denver if the supers steal it from him.

I think its more bloody on the sidelines than on the field.

Just for shiggles (my new word) I looked for a hotel during that week in late August and all of downtown Denver is booked up...but i think there is stuff out by the airport.

I would drive: cans of gas, astronaut diaper, protesting devices and what not, listening to Bob Marley sing "Burning and Looting" all the way there.
