Hillary Appleseed

You have to step back and admire the Clinton campaign's chutzpah.

The facts they are faced with: Hillary's running a competence campaign. She's stepped in and said that the feature she has that differentiates her from her two-remaining opponents is that she's ready to take the reigns on Day 1. It's not a completely unfounded assertion, either...at least in a relative sense.
The problem: The most important vote she's cast so far in her 8 years in the US Senate, is one to authorize a war she's now railing against.

She's also up against an opponent who has been, historically, much more consistent in his opposition to said war.

What does she have to do? Obfuscate. And, to date, she's been doing that. She and Bill are giving confusing speeches claiming that his position is, substantively, no different than hers. To evaluate what they're talking about would require a great deal of research (like a really funky Google search to determine when speeches were removed from his website).

Unfortunately for Obama, people are lazy and this is probably an effective strategy for the time being. All she has to do is plant some seeds of doubt in the Dem electorate and she might be able to fend him off.

This is really getting fun to watch...

Fun to watch. This is so dishonest and hurtful of the democratic process.

It is fun to watch like waterboarding, or a bus running over orphans, or that last Sigfried and Roy show etc.

The interesting thing though is how could this happen, how could the war, the unifying issue on the democratic electorate, have fallen off the front page enough to allow something like this to happen.

I hope people are smart enough to see through it.

We go back to standing in a circle for the firing line.

I agree with you that, on the whole, it is discouraging.

On the other hand, watching people self-destruct can bring some form of gallows-amusement.

"She turned me into a Newt."

Newt's actually been speaking highly of her the past few days.

I think I see locust outside the window...

Funny, I was actually going for a Holy Grail association, but a Gingrich one is equally as fun.

"I got better."

Or: If playing football, would you want Joe Montana as quarterback, or his wife?
