For the Love of God, Barack, Don't Make Richardson the Secretary of State

Much as my testicles shrivel when I hear Hillary scolding the person who's most recently pissed her off, and for all the times my toes are sure to curl when I hear John Kerry pontificate on world affairs, I would take one right after the other rather than suffering through a month of having Bill Richardson represent us abroad as Secretary of State.

Now, even Richardson would be better than the over hyped, abysmal failure named Condie Rice, but there are so many more ways that Barry can repay the New Mexico governor for his act of betrayal on Good Friday, 2008 than making us suffer through his brainless observations on the world stage.

Please, Barack...Don't Take on Her "Point" Gesture!

Oh, brother!

At yesterday's Come to Jesus event in Unity, New Hampshire, Barry took on the absolute worst part of Hillary's campaign.

No, it was not her Bills (neither monetary nor marital).

No, it was not her pack of angry women.

It was this Godawful gesture she does on stage that drives me up the wall! Who the heck is she pointing at when she does this?

Ella Puede Sí!

As time goes on, I realize that I can no longer look down my nose at people who follow soap operas and other sorts of dramas on television...because I do, too.

Mine are just shown on different channels.

In a rather bizarre announcement, and one I can't quite settle on the meaning of yet, Barry announced today that Patti Solis Doyle will be the chief of staff for his yet-unnamed running mate this fall.

Who?

Patti, a product of the Chicago (Rchard M.) Daley Machine, was Hillary's assistant during the White House years and eventually became the manager of her Presidential campaign until she was canned after Super Tuesday.

What do we make of this?

Is Obama setting the plate for a Hillary nod? The lovely Latina might help with inroads amongst Hispanics and be a familiar face when blondie joins the team later this summer.

Or could it be a big, public "F-U!" signal to the junior Senator from New York.

While I think the latter is a much more likely scenario, I can't wait to see how it shakes out!

Tubby, in a Moment of Prayer

Todd Heisler/The New York Times

I'm pretty sure my Congresswoman and I do not pray for many of the same things.

Here she is at Hillary's speech last Tuesday in New York City.

Buh-Bye!

The Real Dirty Harry

While it's now taboo to make any sort of suggestion about Barry being on the wrong end of a meeting with firearms, one can't help but imagine Harold Ickes throwing down a little, "Do ya, punk?" at Obama after the MI/FL decision yesterday at the Dem Rules and Bylaws meeting.

Not only did he offer that this was not a way to start building party unity, but dangled out there the threat to appeal the committee's decision (which made the SCOTUS in Bush v. Gore look downright NASA-like in the precision with which they assigned voter intent) to a higher power, much closer to the Denver convention in August.

Game on.

Below, here's a typical Hillary supporter at yesterday's event.

Ironically, I Got This Screenshot From a Pro-Hillary Video

More on the MI/FL decision later, but this video was linked over on Hillary's site and it just amused the hell out of me.

Attack of the Clintonistas

This is why we should fear a Hillary administration.

Please send these angry women back to the couch to watch Oprah.

Bless Hillary Clinton's Heart

The chick has chutzpah.

She's still yapping about Michigan and pretending that she's wanted their delegates seated all along.

Here's the email I got from her this morning, followed by a link to her original response to the DNC's Four State Pledge.

Dear Dan,
Michigan & Florida - Make Sure They Have a Voice!

Millions of voters in Florida and Michigan are depending on you to help make sure they have a voice in this race. Will you stand up for them today?

Thanks to your efforts, thanks to the hundreds of thousands of people who have already spoken out, the DNC's Rules and Bylaws Committee is meeting May 31 to make a decision about whether or not the votes in Michigan and Florida will count.

Now I need you to urge the DNC to make the right decision on May 31. I need you to remind them that in the Democratic Party, we count every vote.

On May 31, the DNC has a chance to make it clear that the people of Florida and Michigan have a voice in our party. The decision is especially critical given the important role these states will play in November.

And your voice could make the difference for the millions of people who went to the polls in those two states to make their choice for president.

I have consistently said that every vote must count. It is such an important principle in our party. I really appreciate you standing up for the values we share.

Thank you,

Hillary
Hillary Rodham Clinton

P.S. Forward this message on to your friends, and urge them to join you!

Here's her press release to the pledge at the time...which, to her credit, she's not removed from her site.

Doh!

The Hillary campaign made a funny blunder today. The thing is that only the people it's probably meant to impress or persuade are those likely to find its error.

The mailer you can see below seems to be some kind of mirror image of the real gun, making it appear to be a left-handed model. Something that does not exist in the real world, apparently.

Politico's Ben Smith gets the nod on this one.

I'll Take Your Obama Girl and Raise You

Bill Kristol comes through in this morning's New York Times with an opinion piece encouraging John McCain to pick Louisana's new governor, Bobby Jindal, as his veep.

He's not the first person to float this possibility by any stretch, but does lay out a succinct case for it.

Bobby, the son of Indian immigrants, broke through one of the most serious good old boy networks in the country to be elected there last year. This alone displays a competence that at the very least rivals Obama's rise to the Senate in IL (where he ended up running against the truly wacky Alan Keyes.)

Furthermore, bringing him aboard will help neutralize both McCain's age as well as the diversity zeitgeist permeating the current Democrat race.

He also cites polling numbers that show a generic/predictable Republican ticket losing to a Clinton/Obama (or Obama/Clinton) ticket. Maybe the GOP will have to mix it up a little bit and not go with a more conventional choice.

I think it's an interesting thought and it gives me a reason to look forward to the August convention in the Twin Cities.

The Neocon's Enemy's Enemy...Is Also His Enemy

Bill Kristol, the new kid on the block over at the New York Times Opinion Page, comes through with a winner this morning.

While no fan of Hillary Clinton, he argues that she's actually run a much better campaign than most of us expected her to, wiggling herself out of more than one tough spot and throwing some excellent punches, compared to Barry's Chinese Water Torture approach picking up caucuses and the like.

The press, he points out, has been very unfair to her in not noting her successes and framing everything in an Obamacentric point of view.

Well worth your time if you have it.

Picture of the Day

Friends in Terrorist Places...With the Clintons.

Hillary Clinton...No Dummy

Last night at the debate, Hillary offered her first kind of public apology for repeatedly "misspeaking" about things that never happened in Bosnia in the 1990s.

You can say that again, sister. You're not.

So one's left to wonder if her explanation really proves our point. She actually isn't stupid enough to misspeak this many times...or to hire a full staff, none of whom had read her book and realized that what she was saying never really happened.

One is left to wonder if it's only a coincidence that this misstatement, if true, would make her look much more heroic than she actually is.

Beer Goggles

Some people might need one of these to vote for Hillary in the fall, but the former First Lady tooled through the Calumet Region, where I grew up, this week.

Here she is, tipping back what I think would be called a Patrician's Boilermaker...who the hell ever ever heard of having an Old Style with Crown Royal?

Anyway, this was at Bronko's in beautiful Crown Point, Indiana.
