Democrats and "Making Change"

Like others, I'm sick of the "making change" mantra coming out of the Democratic candidates. They should get the Gyuto Monks to record a chant of it!

The only redeeming use of the word was John McCain's snarky bestowal of the label on Mitt last night.

Anyway, after I heard it for the gajillionth time this morning, I recalled the classic SNL bit on First Citiwide Change Bank.

I am so sick of hearing that the democratic platform is just about making change. I think of it as more of a return to rationality and normalcy than radical change.

Who would have thought: having people being able to afford to go to the doctor, afford to go to school, to try to end a war, and work toward honesty and transparency in government would be seen as a 'radical change.'

America is the kind of country where if you are driving down the road and you see someone in the ditch lying there, you stop to help them. Why should our politics and social policy be different?

Well, I agree with you, my friend from the Upper Midwest (is that the appropriate label?).

But the other thing that cracks me up about this, and prompted the post, is that the promise for change is, for all intents and purposes, redundant.

Any one of the people from the Democrat party, and most any of the GOP guys, would have a pretty high degree of change from the current guard.

I was further disappointed today when Mitt referred to McCain as a "Washington Insider."

It's depressing when you can say that you've heard it all before...

I do think the dialouge is considerably different between the parties.

The dems are talking about things the repubs aren't evening mentioning, and vice versa.

I think it will be a big change no matter what, but its more of a question of what you want prioritized by the next administration.
