You Better Get Tough, MoFo!

**The audio below contains a number of F-bombs**

Once Howard went to Sirius Satellite, a common criticism of him has been that he's gotten soft. He's making a boatload of money, takes Fridays off and the FCC is no longer crawling up his back. Life couldn't get better, but at times it leads to the perception that he's lost the edge that drew some of us to him in the first place.

The clip below, from earlier this year, shows that he has not completely lost it...since he completely loses it here.

His news department somehow came up with a tape of Riley Martin's contract negotiations with Sirius management before his staff was able to get the tape ready for air during the regular show.

Profanity ensues and Howard goes off on Jason, Scott the Engineer and Baba Booey.

He never really had it. He couldn't even displace the mighty Tom Barnyard.

I for one have never been able to appreciate or understand the attraction to seemingly intelligent people to his show. :) j/k

My experience with it is that it is toilet humor with racial slurs.

Perhaps there is more to it, as I am sure there must be as it has such a rabid following. But I think the show would have to lose its edge by default of going to an unregulated, almost underground, format. How could you be on the edge when the plane is limitless in every direction. He can say whatever he wants without criticism. Its like a big echo chamber.

Part of the attraction to Stern is that he took on the critics, which gave him his edge. By default of moving underground, he lost it.

Tom Barn-Yard! Hahaha...that guy was such a pud, but I do have to hand it to him for holding on to the TC market. I was up there during that whole thing.

I should take more time to put together a more careful response, but I would argue that the move to Sirius, rather than a chance to lose all rules, was, in fact, a chance for him to show what he's made of.

I've probably written here before, or at least told you that the lez stuff and all that, honestly, gets boring and is not the part of the show I listen to when taping. To me, the staff fights and the news commentary were always the best...that and the interviews because he's one of the few honest interviewers out there. Think Larry King...and then think of the opposite of him.
