I Kind of Hope He Rots in Hell

While anyone can point to a few positive pieces of legislation Jesse Helms was involved in as well as private acts of benevolence, Jesse Helms often acted in the interest of mean-spirited people and deserves to be remembered as such.

I'm not interested in the death bed conversion to Bono's African causes or his seminal role in the Reagan Revolution because he was an otherwise-vile man and I'm actually kind of glad the earth is done with him.

The only disgusting event left is listening to people still in the spotlight singing his praises.

The New Republic pulls out a few golden oldies about the gratefully dead.

I Wish That I Had Jesse's Nerve

Race-baiting bigot, The Reverend Jesse Jackson is back at it with an opinion piece in the Chicago tabloid, the Sun-Times.
John Edwards (not Dennis Kucinich) is apparently the only candidate who cares about black people.

Nothing new here at all...just the same old time religion that's worked on some people for more than a generation. Shockingly, he waits until the last paragraph to throw down a little Dr. King on us, so his restraint is admirable.

Voices of Reason

Race-baiting bigot Al Sharpton was in the nation's capitol today speaking to another beacon of reason, John Conyers, and the House Judiciary Committee about the Jena Six incident.

My opinions on this pretty much line up with the National Review's take on it today...the incident is ugly on a number of fronts. The white students who started tempting trouble by hanging a noose on the tree down there in Louisiana should have been punished more harshly. Their lenient treatment by school administrators has to be interpreted as somewhere between awful insensitivity on one end of the spectrum and a racist relic of the old south on the other.

But for Sharpton and others to turn the hoodlums who beat the snot out of a white kid later as some sort of 21st century Rosa Parks is just more of the dishonesty we have come to expect from this charlatan. It's also well-within-character for the idiot Chairman from Michigan, whose primary legislative move each year is to press again for slavery reparations.

The larger problem with all of this, of course, is the Reverend Who Cried Wolf (I had to substitute nouns there, of course) syndrome. Because knuckleheads like Sharpton are always eager to superimpose Klansman hoods onto almost any cross-racial story, it's hard to have an open public discussion of actual racial wrongdoings in this country.

I Hate Illinois Nazis

The New York Times and other outlets are running stories about a new exhibit at the Holocaust Museum in Washington of how the Nazis in Auschwitz spent their time...you know when they weren't killing Jews, Poles, gays and everyone else they didn't like.

It kind of speaks for itself and I don't think I can offer much to it.

Here's a link to an audio slideshow.

“If I were a candidate, I’d be all over Jena"

No, that's not me talking about and misspelling the name of of the President's daughter, but Jesse Jackson overstating the obvious again.

He's talking about a racial incident I posted here about a week or so ago that took place in Jena, Louisiana.

It's quite obvious that what happened down there is hideous and worth talking about.

It's even more obvious, however, that if he were a candidate, you're damned right Jesse Jackson would find a way to exploit it for his own political gain!

Cynthia McKinney Redux?

The normally mild-mannered Republican Congressman from CT, Christopher Shays, got himself in a little hot water the other day.

He was showing a tour group through the Capitol and wanted to use a doorway that visitors are not usually allowed to use.  When the cops reminded him of this, he allegedly started exercising quite the potty mouth!

While there are no allegations of physical force on his part, the story too-closely resembles the run-in Rep. Cynthnia McKinney (D-Mars) had with the Capitol Police last year to pass quietly.

Expect commentary and trouble from race-bating bigots like Al Sharpton in the week ahead as this story gets its legs.

In Memory of the I-Man

Just a little funny from the past to remind us what race-baiting bigot Jesse Jackson thinks is acceptable...
