A Sentence You Don't Want Yourself to Be Referred In

It's been a rough year for poor, soon-to-be-former Staten Island Congressman, Vito Fossella (R).

He was pulled over for DUI in VA last spring, but that's when his troubles really started. Asked by the cops where he was going, he said he was on his way to visit his sick daughter, nearby.

Problem...as far as everyone else knew, his family was up in New York.

Oops.

Vito was keeping a little snack in the cupboard.

His trial was yesterday.

Neither Mr. Fossella’s wife, Mary Pat Fossella, nor his mistress, Laura Fay, were in the courtroom.

Kiss My Royal Irish Ass

I had almost forgotten about this speech by the fireman at the Concert for New York, but someone made vague reference to it on the Stern show the other day, so I had to find it for you.

Should pick up on the posting shortly.

Be good...

Speaking of Deuces

No, I won't blog about dropping one.

Rather, that's the metaphor that the incomparable Ms. Dowd uses this morning in describing the Obama/Clinton race...they're stuck at deuce!

It's perfect.

Sorry for the lazy postings lately...been a bit busy and the old noggin is drained.

But the weather is warming up here in the rust belt and it's just about time to get the tomatoes growing, so that's got me excited.

Hill Headed to Albany?

This is admittedly a rumour probably being spread, as The Economist notes, by those who want to get her the hell out of the Presidential race, but...

Some folks are starting to chatter about the possibility of Hillary running for governor of the Empire State.

While its origins might not be pure, the notion is not without merit, in my opinion.

Assuming she does not get the nod for President, Hill could have a bit of a hard time when she heads back to The Hill. This race has spawned a lot of the divisiveness that she and her hubby are masters at spreading. Furthermore, if she bloodies Barack enough during this fight, she may be the best thing that has ever happened to John McCain...not a good way to make friends in the D-Triple-C.

Just ask Joe Lieberman.

I doubt it'll go anywhere, but I thought it was kind of an interesting pastime idea in this long stretch between actual elections.

First Blind Governor

I'm so ashamed that my initial reaction to hearing that NY's Lt. Governor, David Paterson, is blind, was some kind of Stevie Wonder joke.

But after my congenital sarcasm calmed down, I realized that it actually is very cool, and a silver lining to this story, that we may have this nation's first blind governor tomorrow.
